Business leaders Investment Forum in Novosibirsk
An exclusive two-day Business Leaders Investment Forum “Innovation for Business” was held at the House of Scientists, Small Hall, of Siberian Branch of Russian Academy of Science. The Forum program was created for local business & community leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators and Business Angel investors, who are seeking to improve the competitiveness and efficiency of their enterprises via the use of innovation and new technologies.
The event organizers are investment and consulting company MARCHMONT Capital Partners, Nizhny Novgorod, and national media-partner UNOVA Media. The general partner of the Forum is the Russian Venture Company. Among the co-organizers are Administration of Novosibirsk region, and OAO “Technopark of Novosibirsk “Akadem Gorodok” in partnership with BIT contest and iCamp project and avia-taxi “DEXTER”.
The Forum partners are Novosibirsk Branch of All-Russian non-governmental organization “Delovaya Rossia”, Interregional Association of economic impact “Sibirskoe Soglashenie”, Institute of Financial Markets Development (IFMD), “Superkadry” Center, Novosibirsk Chamber of Commerce, Novosibirsk open business school, Expert magazine (Siberia), “FiBr”, group of Kuzbass media "Avant".
The Forum’s day one “Applying Innovative Thinking to Improve Company Efficiency & Market Competitiveness” was opened with greetings and introductory words on the regional economy conditions by Kendrick White, the founder and the general director of MARCHMONT Capital Partners, Nizhny Novgorod; Yan Ryazantsev, Director, Investments Department, Russian Venture Company, Moscow, Boris Ivlev, Director, Venture Investment Support Center, Novosibirsk.
The opening session was followed by series of round tables and discussions.
The Session 1 “Preparing the Foundation for Russia`s 21st Century Innovation Economy” included, among others, speeches by Daniel Satinsky, Esq. Founder and President, B.E.A. Associates, USA on International Connections for Innovation, Oleg Elshin, Executive Director, Partner, East Kommerts, (Moscow).
The Forum’s special guest Patrick Fullick, Founder & President of Science:Connections, Moscow-London, presented a master class on how the UK transformed into an Innovation Economy.
The second part of the day was filled with discussion on the use of innovation technologies when taking management decisions and on the role of human resources as well as team formation for innovation industry.
Specifically, Natalia Milchakova, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers Russia B.V. talked about tax privileges when investing into innovations.
The last session of the first day was opened by Boris Ivlev, Director Venture Investment Support Fund with his report on peculiarities of venture investments in Novosibirsk region. Topic on alternative sources of investments was delivered by the known Russian experts: Kendrick White, General Director of MARCHMONT Capital Partners, Nizhny Novgorod, Andrey Andrusov, Partner, Branan, Moscow, Mikhail Treyvish, President, OmniGrade Rating Agency, (Moscow, Vienna) Chairman of the Board, National Factoring Company, (Moscow), Director, International Factors Group (Brussels).
The second day of the Forum ``Attracting Investment Capital to Innovation Projects & Enterprise Modernization`` was opened by Evgeny Evdokimov, Managing Director, Infrastructure development, The Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies (RUSNANO), Moscow, with his presentation`` Infrastructure capitalization – nanotechnology centers in Russia and Yan Ryazantsev, Director, Investments Department, Russian Venture Company, (RVC), Moscow. Discussion on the topic of RUSNANO and Russian Venture Company joint activity attracted auditorium interest to a great extent.
Case studies on development strategies of the companies generated justified interest of the auditorium and were shared by Andrey Linyushin, Director of Autonomous non-profit organization Innovation Center Koltsovo, Dmitry Trubitsyn, Director ``Aeroservice`` Novosibirsk and other representatives of Novosibirsk companies who presented their ideas on innovations and their commercialization.
The day two Forum program ended with a round table, where the participants discussed Business Angels Clubs activities in Russia, USA and Great Britain, and discussed the necessity Business Angels Club creation in Novosibirsk region.
The event was closed with a networking reception.
The Forum was attended by 130 participants, including owners and top-managers of the companies from Novosibirsk, Novosibirsk region, Moscow, representatives of the higher educational and scientific establishments, Universities and science institutions representatives, experts from large international corporations, Business Angels, entrepreneurs, seeking investment into science and technology business.
The Forum’s General partner was the Russian Venture Company, Moscow.
P.S. A U.S. delegation of White House officials, technology executives and social media representatives visited Russia during the period 17 - 23 February. The visit`s aim was to meet Russia’s government, universities, and private and non-commercial companies’ representatives. They discussed the possibilities of using social mass media and other innovation technologies for strengthening and widening connections between US and Russia as well as using scientific knowledge for the society and economy development in both countries.
On this delegation top-managers of the biggest American technological and social media companies such as EBay, Twitter, Cisco Systems, Howcast, EDventure, Social Gaming Network and Mozilla, as well as non-commercial company Catalyst visited Novosibirsk.
The delegation participants met top leaders of Novosibirsk region government, top-managers of the Russian technological and telecommunication companies, entrepreneurs, culture and science representatives, students and non-governmental organizations` representatives.
Marchmont Forum participants met the US delegation representatives during the business breakfast on the 21st of February. The Forum`s participants (young innovators and businessmen) got an excellent opportunity to communicate with the top-managers of biggest technological companies.
