On March 31 the second Business Leaders Investment Forum
took place. This time it was held in the Oka hotel in Nizhny Novgorod. The forum was organized by Nizhny Novgorod-based consulting company Marchmont Capital Partners under the official support of London Stock Exchange.
The forum official sponsor was international company KPMG (Moscow).
Supplier of vending machines and professional coffee-machines Professional and Vending Machines (Moscow), Finance Group (Nizhny Novgorod), consulting company INTALEV (Nizhny Novgorod) and Investment Fund the U.S. Russia Center for Entrepreneurship (Nizhny Novgorod) acted as the forum sponsors.
The forum agenda was very busy and dynamic covering over 20 speeches.
By tradition the forum kicked off with a plenary session. The Head of Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for Nizhny Novgorod region, Mikhail Teodorovich, gave his assessment of the current state of the regional economy and thanked the forum organizer for trying to solve acute problems of SMEs in the region. Council Chief of Delovaya Rossiya – Nizhny Novgorod region, Pavel Solodky, also thanked Principal Manager of Marchmont, Kendrick White, for his professionalism and arranging business meetings at the high level.
For the first time the Nizhny Novgorod forum was visited by a special guest and Marchmont's partner, Jon Edwards, Senior Manager CEE in International Business Development, London Stock Exchange. Mr Edwards believes that in changing economical conditions Russian business can prepare for public offering and need to do it as proactive approach towards IPO today will provide success in after-crisis times in future.
Regional case-studies reasonably aroused interest in the audience. Business School Green City, Collective Actions company, TNT Express Worlwide, SUNRISE PRO and Group of companies Radiosystems shared their life examples of building strategies in regions, carrying out anti-crisis programs and cooperating with investors.
The second part of the forum was dedicated to sources of investment. The audience was presented speeches by NBD Bank (Nizhny Novgorod), UBP Bank (Geneva), investment funds and associations Quadriga Capital Investment Fund (Nizhny Novgorod), Startovye Investitsii (Nizhny Novgorod), East Kommerts (Moscow) as well as stock exchanges London Stock Exchange and MICEX-Povolzhye.
The event was rounded off by the buffet dinner and live music played by Regional Head for Russia and Eastern Europe for Union Bancaire Privee (UBP), Gregg Robins. The guests and participants were able to mix up in an informal atmosphere.
Overall, more than 120 people attended the forum, including directors and top managers of leading companies in Nizhny Novgorod and Moscow, spokesmen for science organisations, experts of large international companies as well as representatives of influential regional media: Delovoy Kvartal, Vedomosti, Delovaya Nedelya, Birzha and others.
The event organisation and content received a high appraisal from the participants and guests.
