The task of Kuzbasskiy Technopark is to provide the innovative project with system of complex support (legal, patent, industrial, consulting), including the search of potential investors.
Basic types of activity of Kuzbasskiy Technopark were defined according to particular features of development of Kemerovo region. Due to the huge mineral resources (brown and hard coal, iron ore, manganese, silver, gold, mercury, tungsten, molybdenum, cobalt, nickel etc.) the region became one of the largest industrial centers in Russia where the leading coal mining, metallurgical, machine building and chemical enterprises are located.

Russian Venture Company (OJSC) (RVC or Russian Venture Company) is a government fund of funds and a development institute of the Russian Federation, one of Russia's key tools in building its own national innovation system.

Russian Venture Company was established by Russian Government on June 7, 2006 (Order No. 838-r). Its mission is to encourage Russias own VC industry and boost capital of VC funds. RVCs role is that of a government fund of venture capital funds channeling public incentives to venture capital and financial support to the hi-tech sector, and of a Russian VC industry development institute.

RVCs authorized capital RUB 30 011 320 700 (about US$ 1022 mln.) is 100% owned by the Federal Agency for State Property Management (Rosimuschestvo). The Board is composed of seven directors, including Elvira Nabiullina (Russian Minister of Economic Development), Andrey Fursenko (Russian Minister of Education), Igor Artemyev (Head of Antitrust Committee), Sergey Guriev (Rector of Russian Economic School), Yigal Erlich (founder and Managing Partner of Yozma Group), Esko Aho (Prime Minister of Finland in 1991-1995, current member of the Executive Committee of Nokia Group), and Igor Agamirzian, CEO of RVC.

RVC operates through private-public partnerships that take form of private VC funds: 49% of their capital is contributed by RVCto be matched by 51% from private investors.

RVC backed VC funds investment priorities focus on technologies from the Critical Technologies List approved by Russian President.

So far, these funds include: VTB Venture Fund (RUB 3,061 mln i.e. about US$ 104 mln.), Bioprocess Capital Ventures (RUB 3,000 mln i.e. about US$ 102 mln.), Maxwell Bio-Tech (RUB 3,061 mln i.e. about US$ 104 mln.),), Leader Innovations (RUB 3,000 mln i.e. about US$ 102 mln.), Tamir Fishman CiG Russian Fund (RUB 2,000 mln i.e. about US$ 68 mln.), S-Group Ventures (RUB 1,800 mln i.e. about US$ 61 mln.) and New Technologies (RUB 3,061 mln i.e. about US$ 104 mln.).

Business Incubator was founded in 2006 by students and professors of State University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow, and has quickly become a catalyst for student entrepreneurial activities far beyond its HSE walls.

The Incubator concurrently hosts up to six startup teams. Startups get a fully equipped office space, administrative and consulting support. They also enjoy free participation at HSE and industry events, and take full advantage of networking opportunities provided by the Incubators team.

In just 3 years since its inception, the Incubator became a starting ground for a number of well-known student companies: SmartKniga, Skillopedia.ru, Native Speakers Club, Roomix, PensiaMarket, TimePad, and others.
Business Project Competition

Business project competitions serve an important purpose of popularizing entrepreneurship among students, searching for talented young entrepreneurs and Next Big Thing ideas.

HSE {10K} was initiated in 2006 as an analog for the MIT(100K) competition. It is a contest of students business projects be it an idea or a young company.

Startup of the Year is another popular contest that attracts ambitious young entrepreneurs. They not only have to defend their business model, but present the audience with a short video about their startup. Winners of HSE {10K} and Startup of the Year receive cash prizes and a two-year residency at the Incubator.

The Incubator also runs less formal contests and business games:

* Iron Entrepreneur started as a team-building tool for HSE{10K} and spread virally throughout the country.
* Flip-Chat is very popular among technology students, as it allows to generate and present business ideas without an emphasis on presentation skills.

The Incubator partners up with other organizations to run regular business and networking events for startups and young entrepreneurs: BIT contest, Startup Weekend, Startup Point, Harvest (Greenfield.ru project) and many others.

The Incubator capitalizes on the leading role of HSE as a provider of entrepreneurial knowledge. It runs courses in entrepreneurship as well as stand-alone seminars provided by real entrepreneurs. Over 60% of participants come from other schools (mostly technology-oriented), and almost all of them participate in other events organized by the Incubator. Currently, the Incubator offers the following courses in entrepreneurship:

* How to Start a Successful Business, or Entrepreneurship 101,
* Business Laboratory,
* Creative Thinking in Business.


HSE{sun} is a yearly summer conference for Russian entrepreneurial support organizations. The Incubator invites participants from other schools, technology parks, venture firms, private businesses and multinational corporations to discuss common challenges in fostering entrepreneurship, and collaborate on designing a more effective support infrastructure for innovative businesses.
