Russian Railways invests $11.8m in Nizhny Tagil

National rail operator Russian Railways has assigned a total of $11.8m to Sverdlovsk Railways to be used to finance investment program in its Nizhny Tagil branch in 2009, Sverdlovsk Railways reports.

Under plans, $7.7m is to be spent on transportation safety provision measures.

The funds are also to be used to build fiber-optic lines at several rail tracks and to lay copper cables to provide connection between rail tracks.
