Russian cargo drones to help rescue and build in Japan

30 Mar '18
SKYF, a Russian developer of cargo drones, is entering the Japanese market, Firrma.ru reported, citing a cooperation agreement inked recently between the Russian company and Carceil Inc., an aerospace consultancy in Japan.

SKYF is developing an unmanned aerial cargo platform capable of taking off and landing vertically. The system enables the development of UAVs for a wide range of applications--from freight logistics to agricultural and fire-fighting uses. The platform currently offers a total lift capacity of up to 400kg and can fly as far as 350km (with 50kg cargo) for as long as eight hours.

SKYF CEO Alexander Timofeev told the source that their cargo robots have been successful at all flight tests so far; however, to meet all the requirements for the Japanese market, more R&D and tests are needed.

Japans Carceil Inc. has reportedly undertaken to promote SKYF among stakeholders in its country. The Russian company has plans to get all Japanese government permits to engage with its drones in extinguishing fires in sky scrapers and building new ones.

SKYF earlier raised $2m for the development of its own blockchain platform called SKYFchain for the unmanned cargo logistics market. The investment was raised through a token pre-ICO, with 25% of the money attracted even before the pre-ICO was launched.
