Rostelecom launches mobile data center in Far East

National communication operator Rostelecom has put into commission a mobile data-center, citing the company.
The new data-center is one of the largest projects of IT-infrastructure in the Far East region. Rostelecom’s investment into the project has come in at $3.6m.
The data-center is a specialized space for locating servers and commutation equipment, meeting specialized technical and climate requirements.
The center reportedly consists of separate modules, based on the basis of 40-foot sea containers and can be efficiently connected to communication channels of Rostelecom.
The mobile data center allows storing and processing data, as well as providing a wide spectrum of services with high security, efficiency and failure-resistance.
The mobile data center is equipped with IBM solutions in accordance with international standard TIA/EIA-942 and meets requirements of the 3rd security level (Tier III). The contractor of the project is the company Envision Group.
According to Andrey Balatsenko, the vice-president, the director of the macroregional branch Rostelecom – Far East. “mobile version of the data-center can be set up fast and efficiently in the needed location, and then grow needed calculating capacities for providing large number of clients with full range of services, from virtual hosting of services and to services of “electronic government”.
Aleksey Tarasenko, the director general of the Envision Group, said: “We are proud that the first project of construction and launching a mobile data center on the Rostelecom network was entrusted to our company. For us this is a signature project that will be the basis for carrying out the series of similar projects. In our opinion, such options of building data centers will be popular in the future, as they can be easily tuned for solving difference tasks, and, if needed, moved to new locations.”
