RMT launches series production of micromodules in Nizhny Novgorod

RMT, a project company of Rusnano, has launched series production of thermoelectric refrigerating micromodules in the city of Nizhny Novgorod, innovation and venture news source reports citing Rusnano.
The production complex is reportedly located in the territory of the urban technopark Ankudinovka.
Thermoelectric micromodules of RMT are used for refrigerating lasers, photoelectric detectors and integral microschemes. New companies inventions allow creating more powerful devices, which are in demand in telecommunication, calculation and optoelectronic industries.
Most of the products will be exported to the USA, Europe and countries of the South-Easters Asia.
Under plans, in 2012 about 500,000 micromodules will be produced at the complex, and in 2015 – four times the amount.
Total project budget is about $25m, including Rusnano’s contribution of $4.7m. The project co-investor is the closed-end venture investment fund S-Group Ventures, set up with participation of the Russian Venture Company. Experimental production complex RMT that opened in May in Moscow is the first nanotechnological production complex in the capital.
“RMT has already had production complex in Nizhny Novgorod and deemed development of the series production of the goods as more beneficial. This industrial region has many highly-qualified specialists, opportunity for locating the complex in Ankudinovka business-incubator also played a role in this business decision. The role of the Moscow complex is to develop new sorts of products and produce limited series of products in wide assortment. Big role here is played by the historically established team of developers and closeness to scientific institutions that the company has been cooperating earlier,” Vasiliy Kostyanovsky, the senior investment manager of Rusnano, said.
