Omsk region to give grants to university science

Authorities in Omsk region will provide grant support to innovation project, carried out by the regional universities, NanoNewsNet reports.

Educational school of Omsk region and its higher school institutions are given a special important role in strategic programs and development plans of the region, as without prepared specialists and qualified personnel many issues, related to realization of innovative fields of economic development and creation of the new industrial platform, cannot be resolved. The governor Leonid Polezhayev said that at the meeting with rectors of higher professional education institutes in Omsk region.

The regional authorities offer assistance in establishing more tight relations between university science and practical economy, higher school and governmental agencies.

“In 2012 we intend to increase the number of grants and financial resources, allocated on support of specific science topics and projects, which will be very useful for the regional development,” Leonid Polezhayev said.

Intellectual potential of the higher school, small innovative firms in the universities has already contributed a great deal into creation of the new model of economy, based on cluster approaches. Participating in the project “PARC: industrial-agricultural clusters” gives opportunity for realizing scientific ideas and innovative projects of university science.

Notably, a quarter of all small innovation firms, set up in the universities of the Siberian Federal District, happened in Omsk region.

The goal of the state politics of Omsk region in the innovative sector is creation of favorable conditions for forming new knowledge, technologies, increasing innovative activity in economy based on implementation of advanced technologies.

Omsk region is the leader among the regions of the Siberian Federal District on the number of companies, using innovative technologies in its operations.

The following elements of the regional innovative infrastructure have been launched and are operating efficiently in Omsk region: business-incubators, technology transfer centers, resource centers and other facilities.
