Urals developers work on artificial intelligence for Moscow skyscrapers

14 Jan '21
By 2023, two new iCity skyscrapers - Time Tower and Space Tower - should appear in the business center of the capital Moscow City. Experts call this class A business complex the largest office project of 2020 in Russia.

The American architectural bureau JAHN Architecture is responsible for the architecture, the British companies Yorgo Lykouria and Gillespies are responsible for the interior of public spaces and landscape design, respectively, but the concept of a unified digital environment was entrusted to the famous Russian IT developers in the field of artificial intelligence of buildings - Skolkovo resident Unicorn.

iCity is positioned as the first digital business center in Russia. It will be entirely based on smart building technologies, which implies the automation of all life support systems, efficient consumption of resources, an automated security system and a comfortable living environment.
“Our company concentrates unique competences for the Russian market in the field of automation and building management,” says Svetlana Perminova, Unicorn Director. - In 2017, we began to create a unique cloud platform and a line of hardware solutions for smart buildings, which are now available on the market under the Ujin brand. This is software that, on the one hand, can interact with engineering systems that have a digital component: an access control system, video surveillance, metering devices, etc., as well as with “smart” devices of the Internet of things, on the other hand, it establishes interaction between all these devices and people. We support user interfaces: web, mobile applications, voice assistants like Alice or Marusya. ”
Ujin is the operating system, the intellectual center of the entire building, whose task is to give end users access to all service capabilities of modern digital technologies.
“We have been working with the developer of iCity - MR Group for a long time, now we are connecting the Seliger residential complex and the Savelovsky-City business center to our platform, - continues the Unicorn director. the partners entrusted us with the creation of a digital environment for the first “smart” skyscraper in Russia iCity”.

“It would be wrong to think that the Ujin platform will be used in iCity,” emphasizes Svetlana Perminova. “This product exists here and now, and we are actively introducing it throughout the country at various facilities. iCity is still about the future, about 2023. Our task was to design a smart infrastructure concept for iCity, which will make the building advanced even in 2023, that is, create the core of a digital platform so that it is possible to connect to it all the engineering systems that are included in the project, and at the same time enable an unlimited number of Smart devices to connect to it in the future.”

“It was important for us to lay the foundation for the solution to the requirements for the openness of the platform, so that in the future any developer could create applications for iCity that would provide new options for different types of users, would be able to control the devices that are in the building, communicate with people through public or the private interfaces of each person: his smartphone, computer, etc. I repeat, the main thing is to ensure maximum comfort and optimize the time spent by people who are there due to the automated interaction of all systems of the “smart” building.”
This is what the authors of the project call digital chic - a new level of comfort that arises when people interact with the infrastructure of a building. Digital chic means modern technologies that can recognize a person, identify his habits, guess if not desires, then at least needs and thereby save his time.
“We have prepared technical requirements for each location of the building, be it a corridor, hall, elevator, office, lobby, atrium, and have worked out a set of technical means, that is, we have determined which sensors should be present in one or in another room, how many cameras need to be installed there, how they should be located, which interfaces should be present,” explains Svetlana Perminova.
All these devices will read data related to the characteristics of human behavior ( access to the building will be provided based on biometrics), and neural networks will analyze them and identify patterns in behavior.
“For example, if a person consistently orders coffee at four in the afternoon, at some point the building will ask if he wants coffee. And in the way that will be available in the room where the person is, says the director of Unicorn. - Can send a push notification, pronounce it through the speaker, display it on an interactive panel. Or, for example, the person in the office always adjusts a certain temperature and humidity. Knowing this, a “smart” building can set the same parameters without reminders, for example, in a meeting room.”

“It is possible that in 2023 everything around us will be “smart”: a table, a chair, a pen,” says Svetlana Perminova,“ and we must associate a “smart” chair that recognizes a person sitting on it with the air conditioner turned on at a certain power , closing curtains or starting audio. That is, already now we are faced with the task of creating the future, which we have read about in fantastic books”.
