Siemens and Krasnodar region to “green” World Football Championship

Engineering concern Siemens and Krasnodar region have agreed to cooperate in preparing the region’s infrastructure for the World Football Championship 2018, Pro-Vision Communications reports.

The memorandum of understanding was signed at the international real estate event MIPIM-2012 in Cannes, France.

Under the agreement, the parties will form a steering group to implement “green” and energy saving technologies at the Championship facilities in accordance with requirements and recommendations of the “Green Goal”, FIFA’s ecological program.

Under the program, the group will develop technical concept of a stadium for 50,000 seats and adjacent territory in Krasnodar. The concept will reportedly include modern engineering solutions by Siemens, and will fully meet ecological standards and save construction and further maintenance costs.

Siemens AG, headquartered in Berlin and Munich, is the global leader in electronics and electronic technologies. The concern works in energy and healthcare sectors, and offers urban infrastructure solutions.
