A ceremony was held in the city of Sochi to award the winners of the contest of ecological innovations among companies, engaged in construction of the Olympics facilities, Venture Business News reports.

A total of 36 companies took part in the contest of the Program to Recognize Achievements in Implementing the Ecologically Efficient Solutions, announced by the Sochi-2014 Organizational Committee in cooperation with the state corporation Olympstroy. The winners were defined in eight nominations.

TEK Mosenergo, and its membrane technology for technical water treatment in order to minimize amount of salt, dumped into environment, was announced the winner in the sector of implementation of innovation technologies. The company applied its technology in construction of the Adler TES thermal power station.

Architecture shop “Studio 44”, with the project of rail station “Olympics Park”, was named the best design company.

The project of the office building for the Sochi-2014 Organizational Committee, developed by the RKV Architektur Stetebau Russia, was recognized as the project, best compliant with the requirements of the International Paralympics Committee.

The Sochi National Park received its sward for the unique project for restoring population of the Persian Leopard in the North Caucasus.

The best example of rational water use was demonstrated by the company Reserve that has presented a unique technology for cleaning and second-use of rain water, collected from the roof of the Russian Olympics University, currently under construction in Sochi.

The Sochi waste processing plant deserved an award for its waste management system.

Mostovik was recognized for its energy efficient solutions. The firm has presented a large complex of energy saving technologies, including street lights on solar batteries and wind generators.

The post-Olympic future of Sochi was also taken into consideration. Thus, Sochi Park got an award for its project of creating a new touristic complex in the city.

According to Dmitry Chernyshenko, the President of the Sochi-2014 Organizational Committee, the contest of ecological innovations is to become annual.
