Tomsk scientists suggest using space survey for geological mining

Scientists of the National research Tomsk Polytechnic University have developed a technology to use materials of multi-spectrum space survey for studying oil gas and ore deposits, the University reports.

The space vehicles reportedly make single-channel survey and collect image into the color range, visible to the human eye. After that the scientists process the data and identify the most likely deposit sites.

Currently, the university specialists are developing a program to study diamond deposits in Eastern Yakutia, Vitimsky uranium ore district in the Irkutsk region, as well as programs to create mineral bases of copper, lead, zinc in Altay region and others.
