North-Western Laboratory to open R&D Center in Ingria

The North-Western Laboratory intends to open the Center of Research and Development in the sector of transformation of electrical power based on nanocrystalline cores in St. Petersburg technopark Ingria, innovation and venture news source UNOVA reports citing Ingria.

The partners have reportedly signed a memorandum of understanding.

The North-Western Laboratory will also give consulting support to high-technology startups of the business-incubator, provide infrastructure services, related to experimental-development projects for telecommunication equipment.

The company produces about 1 million transformers based on ferrite materials per year. Its products are used in light technological and telecommunication equipment, medical devices, radio technologies and car industry.

The North-Western Laboratory occupies about 20% of the market of all transformers, with aggregate annual turnover of about $10m. This is the third company to locate its own science and research center in technopark. Last year Microsoft and DataArt announced plans to open their centers in Ingria.

The Ingria Business Incubator is a project by the Ingria Technopark. It is a unique platform for supporting promising high-tech projects and beginning entrepreneurs, its goal is to help startups to develop to the stage of receiving financing and entering a market.

The Business Incubator has been operating actively since December 2008, and offers to innovative companies services related to project promotion, raising investment, consulting and service support. Residents are offered two programs – pre-incubation and incubation.

Many residents of the business incubator are companies engaged in developing various promising fields, from the IT sphere and the energy industry to construction and the production of medical equipment.
