Authorities in Kamchatka region have given the first state subsidy to a nanotechnological company, news agency ITAR-TASS reports citing regional authorities.

According to Oksana Gerasimova, the regional minister of investment and development of entrepreneurship, the authorities have given about $155,000 to the company Nanosilica to redeem expenses on equipment, needed for production of nano-powder and sol from natural materials of the Mutnovsky geo-thermal power station. The products, manufactured by the company, can be used as additives in construction and agricultural industries.

As Ms. Gerasimova explained, the company’s proposal was currently undergoing expertise in Rusnano and Skolkovo innovation center, for the joint $18m project. Nanosilica’s products are of interest to Russian, as well as foreign partners.

The subsidy will allow the company to launch production of nano-powder and sol in industrial scale, as well as to get opportunity for carrying out additional research of features and applications of the product, the minister said.

Nano-sol and nano-powders can be applies in various industrial sectors, as well as agriculture. If nano-additives are put into cement, concrete or gypsum in the quantities of one-hundredth or one-thousandth of a percent, it will increase the materials’ strength by 10-40% and their other features. It is obvious, that houses, built from such materials, are more seismic resistant.
