Have we ever wondered how well the fabric and nylon masks that we wear properly protect us? To be honest, not really. As established by American doctors, by about 26.5-38.5%.
A protective screen without a mask is generally a useless thing: Japanese scientists simulated the spread of a virus on a supercomputer and calculated that the effectiveness of the screen in protecting against virus particles is only 2%. It has been proven that the virus can enter the body through the mucous membrane of the eyes, so it is important to protect not only the respiratory system, but also the eyes. Regular masks will definitely not cope with this.
The designers and engineers of Oxima (a Skolkovo resident) tried to avoid all these shortcomings by creating an innovative protective mask. The Oxima mask is a transparent screen that adheres to the face as closely as possible due to the silicone cuff. The product is equipped with a built-in forced ventilation system. The air that is blown onto the glass by the fan is passed through a HEPA 13 filter (a type of high efficiency air filter), providing a high level of protection. The filter surfaces are disinfected with ultraviolet light. Disinfection takes place using short-wave ultraviolet rays with a wavelength of 280 nanometers. Filtered air is pressurized inside the mask so that even if there are slots, untreated air will not get under the mask. The glass does not fog up due to correctly designed air flows.
According to the general director of the company Denis Medvedev, when creating the mask, not only the functional protective properties were taken into account, but also the aesthetic requirements of the modern user:
“We proceeded from the desire to abandon the ineffective, inconvenient, non-ecological “muzzle ”. The cyberpunk design concept looks aesthetically pleasing and adequate, even if you are wearing a business suit or evening dress. We have completely solved the problem with mask fit: thanks to the silicone cuff, the product fits perfectly on a person with almost any type of face. The built-in electronics allows non-contact, via Bluetooth, to adjust the individual operating mode of the fans and filter sterilization. The working time is up to eight hours, depending on the schedule. ”
The procedure for registering the mask with Roszdravnadzor as a medical device is now underway. This will allow medical institutions to equip doctors and medical workers with a gadget. It is planned that the product will go on sale in the spring of 2021.
