Russian service robot identifies visitors with fever

25 Jun '20
Promobot, a resident of the Skolkovo Foundation and Europe’s largest manufacturer of service robots, has introduced a new development that will help control access to buildings. The multifunctional Promobot Control terminal scans passports, issues badges and blocks access for visitors with high temperatures.

Promobot Control was created on the basis of a stand-alone terminal for non-contact temperature measurement Promobot Termocontrol, which was introduced at the end of March 2020 and already works at large enterprises in Russia, Germany, Greece and the USA.

The advanced device is equipped with a passport scanner, a receipt printer, an access card issuing dispenser and an RFID reader, a bank card payment terminal and a disinfectant dispenser. Also, the station non-contact measures the temperature in just 5 seconds with an accuracy of 0.2 degrees. Promobot Control can be integrated with access control and management systems.

Large enterprises - Promobot clients, as well as company partners abroad have already become interested in the new development.
Oleg Kivokurtsev, Development Director of Promobot: “As a technology startup, we always work ahead of the curve. In a number of regions of Russia, restrictive measures are beginning to weaken. Enterprises and their employees are returning to their usual rhythm of life. But, at the same time, the world will no longer be the same - the pandemic has changed the rules of the game. Under them, we developed our new device - with automated access and mandatory temperature measurement. We believe that it is necessary to implement this procedure today, because tomorrow it can become a new security standard. ”

Pavel Krivozubov, Head of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at the Skolkovo Foundation Information Technology Cluster: “The ability to find new opportunities in times of crisis is an indicator of the company's maturity and professionalism. I am glad that our residents include Promobot, a company that, in the current situation, has managed to mobilize its engineering resources and create a new technological solution that is in demand at the moment. This speaks of the enormous potential of the company, industry leadership and its readiness for the challenges of the future.”
