Engineeing Center “Gas Turbine Technologies” has won RUSNANO’s contract to establish an engineering center to create an innovative gas turbine engine, reports.
Specifically the company will modernize GTD-110 gas turbine engine, with 110 MW power, into GTD-110M model.
The Engineering Center “Gas Turbine Technologies” is a JV by INTER RAO UES (50% plus one share), RUSNANO (40% minus one share), and science and production complex Saturn.
According to Ilya Fyodorov, CEO in Saturn, the engineering center will upgrade the GTD-110 engine technically and economically. The new engine will have nanostructured coating, ensuring safety of the turbine’s hot part and longer service of the engine. The modernized version GTD-110M will serve as a basis for creation of powerful steam gas units in Russia, Mr. Fyodorov said.
The GTD-110M project is scheduled to be realized within 2.5 years. Investment into it is estimated at $85m.
Under plans, by 2014 the first GTD-110M unit will be manufactured. The next stage will see series produciton of these powerful industrial engines.
