100 IT projects nearing completion at Domodedovo airport

2 Mar '12
No less than one hundred IT projects are at different stages of completion at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport, East-West Digital News, an international resource on Russian IT and innovation, reports.

The projects have a budget totalling 2 billion rubles, or approximately $66 million, over two years, Domodedovo’s IT Director Viktor Ponomarenko announced.

Among the projects, most of which will be completed in 2012, are a new data processing center, enhanced internal communication systems, and a fence system to secure the airport’s perimeter. The latter is provided by Smart Fence, a company from Texas.

Several additional projects that are currently underway are related to passenger safety and flight security and therefore come under the responsibility of the federal authorities.
