Ozon to be launched in Facebook, Odnoklassniki, VKontakte
8 Dec '11
Internet-store Ozon is launching its application with full catalogue of goods in the social network Facebook, innovation and venture news source reports.
According to the e-commerce facility developer Magazinga, in the nearest months similar application will appear in social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki. Their users will be able to recommend purchases to friends, tag the goods they like and potential gifts.
Application Magazinga.ru with Ozon’s base catalogue will appear on Facebook on December 7, 2012.
“We have added some social elements to the Internet-store: users will get an opportunity to post on the walls the products they like, desired gifts, and products they already have,” Konstantin Smirnov, the director general of Magazinga, said. Developers of the social networks application Magazinga will be receiving a standard Ozon’s partner commission. It depends on a number of orders per month and can reach up to 15% of sales in all categories, except for household electronics and technology – for these foods commission does not exceed 1%.
“We expect to enter foreign markets, using relations of our founder, the fund Softline Venture,” Mr. Smirnov said. Magazinga is currently holding negotiations with Internet-stores from India, Vietnam, USA, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. “Our goal is to create a “next-door” online hypermarket: in order to do that we need to in-build Magazinga’s “window” into websites, regularly visited by users,” Mr. Smirnov added.
The fund Softline Ventures invested $500,000 into the project Emegamall, which was then transformed into the company Magazinga, in Spring 2011.
Ozon.ru has already had a positive sales experience in the social network VKontakte. Last year the Internet-store launched the service “Wishes”, which allowed users to choose gifts from Ozon.ru and gather money for them from friends. After the service “Wishes” was launched, the number of visitors in the Internet-store’s group VKontakte grew by five times, and sales in VKontakte grew up by three times.
