In 2008 Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) projects to build 5,000 of light commercial vehicles Maxus in Nizhny Novgorod, the Chairman of GAZ Group´s board of directors Eric Eberhardson reports. GAZ is located in Nizhny Novgorod and is the parent company of GAZ Group.
Mr. Eberhardson said in 2008 GAZ would only assemble cars out of parts produced by vehicle manufacturer LDV. It is located in Birmingham, Great Britain and has been part of GAZ Group since August 2006. Gorky Automobile Plant will launch production of Maxus in 2009.
“To produce Maxus, the plant has to upgrade its production lines that are currently being used for Gazels manufacturing and to purchase new equipment,” Mr. Eberhardson said. “Then we will have production facilities to produce Maxus vehicles for export.”
The estimated production output of Maxus in Nizhny Novgorod is 50,000 vehicles a year, but GAZ Group considers increasing production capacity.
2007 Russian Vehicles trading house plans to sell 1,000 of Maxus vehicles on Russia's territory.
