Omsk to invest $1.3bn in logistics complex

Omsk regional authorities plan to invest around 33 billion rubles ($1.3bn) in establishing a multimodal transport and logistics center in Omsk, the city´s press service has reported.

The project of the future center was presented at the Russian-German forum “Business and Investment Opportunities of Russia’s Regions” in Hamburg.

“Omsk has all the possibilities to manage transport flows from Asia to Europe,” Evgeny Primakov, President of Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said at the forum. Mr. Primakov also added that the Omsk region had been witnessing a stable increase in its cargo turnover for the last several years, which remains at 6%-8% each year.
