ALROSAs $2.8bn+ mines announced

Diamond producer ALROSA has unveiled $2.8bn+ plans for three new mines to be built in Yakutia by 2014.

The aggregate capacity of the three mines is about 6 million tons of ore a year, the company said.

The Yakutian firm reportedly accounts for 25% of the worlds diamond production.
