ALROSA builds $690m diamond mine in Yakutia

The world’s largest diamond company ALROSA has built a $690m mine at Mir diamond deposit in the city of Mirny, Republic of Yakutia.

The mine’s projected annual capacity is 1 million tons of diamond ore.

Construction of the mine started in 2002. The mine is expected to reach projected annual capacity in 2012.
