18 Jun '09
Gazprom will export 5 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Sakhalin-2 international project this year, up 2 million tons from earlier plans, Deputy CEO Alexander Medvedev unveiled today.

According to him, about 1 million has already been shipped to customers in S. Korea, India, China and Japan.

Gazprom could also export LNG to the United States, Mr. Medvedev said.

The gas holding owns 50% plus one share in Sakhalin Energy, operator of the world’s largest Sakhalin-2 oil and gas project.
