Potential hydrocarbon reserves in the Okhotsk Sea are estimated at more than 12 billion tons of oil equivalent, RIA Novosti reported today, citing RN-Shelf-Far East’s Lev Brodsky.

RN-Shelf-Far East, known before 2009 as Sakhalin Projects, is part of Rosneft.

In the following five years the company reportedly intends to explore on Rosneft’s licensed fields more than 500 million tons in recoverable reserves.
