Oil and gas company RN-Sakhalinmorneftegaz plans to invest $11.8m in its 2009 environment protection program, up $9m from the 2008 investment, RIA Novosti reported today, citing a company management representative, Oleg Zhikharev.
“The ongoing crisis won’t prevent us from honoring our environment protection commitments for 2009,” Mr. Zhikharev said.
According to him, environment protection activities include pipeline repairs, prevention of oil spills, construction of sludge stores on the Katangli oil field to keep oil-containing waste, installation of a solid and liquid waste recovery unit on the field, construction of water treatment units in the Okhinsky and Nogliksky districts, and some other activities.
RN-Sakhalinmorneftegaz is part of Rosneft.
