Mechel to build coal company in Vanino port

Ore and mining giant Mechel has announced plans to build a coal terminal in Vanino port, Khabarovsk region.

Investment in the project has yet to be disclosed.

Under plans, coal is to be extracted at Elginsky deposit in the Republic of Yakutia and to be exported through Vanino port to the countries of Asian – Pacific region.

The first launch complex, with annual transshipment capacity of 5 million tons of coal, is to be put into commission in 2014. In 2020 the third, last launch complex is to be opened, and the terminal’s annual capacity is to reach 25 million tons of coal, the firm said.
