OMK Steel, part off the OMK metallurgical company in Moscow, has started testing on the smelted steel in the foundry in Vyksa, Nizhny Novgorod region, a press-sectary for the company has said.
The testing stage allows them to put a date on the start of production at the foundry.
The project had cost OMK over $600m. After the completion of the first phase, the foundry was supposed to have a capacity of 1.2m tons of rolled steel per year. The foundry will entirely satisfy the demand of the Vyksa metallurgical factory and the Almetyevsky piping plant.
