Ekaterinburg-based steel company VIZ-Steel has announced plans to invest $40m in modernization of a machine to put insulating coating on a steel plate AEIP-8 in its cold rolling mill.
Equipment for the machine modernization is reportedly to be supplied by German company LOI.
Under plans, the AEIP-8 is to be the first machine in the cold rolling mill, where electrical heating of the steel plate is to be replaced with natural gas heating.
As a result of modernization, the energy resource consumption is to be cut by 30%, and the line’s production capacity is to grow by 50%, the firm said.
Modernization is scheduled to be completed in 2013.
VIZ Steel is a part of NLMK steel group.
