A joint Russo-Chinese R&D and production project, the Ural Laser Center, is slated for launch in the Sverdlovsk region, Nanoprom.net reports
The project was agreed upon earlier this month in the regional capital city of Yekaterinburg at a meeting between Regional Sheet-Working Center, a local company, and China’s Hubei Unity Laser Holding.
The joint project is expected to focus on assembling Chinese laser systems for a variety of uses, and also on developing laser technologies and special software to be marketed inside Russia.
The prospective Center will start operations later this year, regional authorities said. The Sverdlovsk region also said it’s ready to offer the Chinese investor some government support.
