Irkutsk timber projects get $5m support

State support of investment projects in timber industry in Irkutsk region in 2009 is to come in at $5m, regional officials report.

The support is reportedly to be received by timber companies Igirma, Ilim and Osetrovsky LDK.

Igirma reportedly intends to build a $108.5m wood sawing and processing complex in the village of Novaya Igirma in the regions Nizhneilimsky district. The project started in 2007 and is scheduled to be completed in 2010.

Ilim is to increase its pulp production capacities and to install a paper-making machine at its subsidiary in the city of Bratsk. The project is scheduled to be carried out in 2008-2012, investment in the project has yet to be disclosed.

Osetrovsky LDK has been building a plant to annually produce 250,000 cubic meters of large scale plywood and 150,000 cubic meters of dry timber. The project has been underway since 2006. Investment in the project has yet to be announced.
