USC and Daewoo’s $1.5bn dockyard aired

United Shipbuilding Corp. (USC) and S. Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding have plans to build a dockyard in Vladivostok, Kommersant reports.

The cost of the project is a reported $1.5bn. According to the newspaper, USC is counting on VEB funding.

If realized, the project will reportedly build gas-carrying tankers, ice-class tankers, ships to explore shelf, as well as ocean-going LNG plants.

Under plans, dockyard construction must be completed by the end of 2011 and the first ship commissioned in early 2012.
