Skolkovo lends hand to regional innovators in Nizhny Novgorod
27 Jun '19
An agreement was signed yesterday between the government of Nizhny Novgorod, in the mid-Volga area, and Russia’s Skolkovo Foundation. Regional innovative companies will now be able to tap the Foundation’s support mechanisms without having to leave home for the Skolkovo Technopark which is located just outside Moscow, Delovoy Kvartal reported.
Under terms of the agreement, the local technopark called Ankudinovka is now being promoted to the status of a Skolkovo regional operator, one of the eight such Skolkovo partners across Russia.
“The status grants us the right to select technology innovations regionally and apply for support for those projects federally… The projects will be able to use the Skolkovo brand and the services offered by the Foundation, including intellectual property centers, co-working space, mentorship programs, acceleration programs, etc.,” Governor Gleb Nikitin of the Nizhny Novgorod Region said.
“We were surprised and pleased to see so many biomed projects in Ankudinovka. Digital medicine is a complicated field to bring innovation in; even the Skolkovo Technopark residents face certain trouble commercializing their projects,” Skolkovo Foundation Vice President Yuri Saprykin said, adding that the Foundation will be helping the locals avoid the snags typically associated with the commercialization process.
