Russian billionaire takes over online remote employment service

Severgroup TalentTech has acquired a 97.5% stake in online service FL.ru, Russia’s most active and lucrative Russian-language remote employment exchange platform focused on specialists in digital sectors such as programmers, web market specialists, designers and others, Firrma.ru reported. Severgroup TalentTech is part of Severstal Group, a Russian metallurgical giant owned by the billionaire Alexei Mordashov.
The deal’s value has yet to be announced. FL.ru’s unique monthly visitors top 1.7 million users.
“We can see that the development of technologies influences the structure of employment in the labor market dramatically,” Severgroup TalentTech CEO Artem Kumpel said. According to the findings from Datainsight’s November 2017 study conducted to order by Avito.ru, the online segment of this market in Russia employs about 10 million people and is worth as much as $139bn a year.
Set up in May 2005, FL.ru, formerly known as Free-lance.ru, is a service for freelancers in the field of digital services.
