The International Symposium on the development of small innovation entrepreneurship and early stages VC markets will take place in Nizhny Novgorod on April 25-26, 2012. The event will be part of the broader First Russian Business Angels Week to be held in Russia between the 23rd and the 27th.
The First Russian Business Angels Week is a series of concerted activities focused on discussing educational, informational, and investment measures aimed at developing Russia’s early stage market for innovation and VC investing.
More than 25 regions of Russia, 1,000 investors and 5,000 participants will take part in the Week.
The focal event of the Week will be the 12th Annual Congress of the European Business Angels Network. Russia’s hosting the Congress on April 23-24 for the first time in history.
The purpose of the Nizhny Novgorod Symposium is to bring together and coordinate the efforts of participants from across the innovation spectrum, including business angels, venture capitalists, innovative businesses, infrastructure and research organizations, public associations of entrepreneurs, public authorities, and public institutions. The ultimate goal is the development of a Nizhny Novgorod market for small early stage innovation entrepreneurship and venture capital.
The organizers of the Symposium include the regional Start Invest Association of Business Angels, the Higher School of Economics in Nizhny Novgorod, and the Nizhny Novgorod Innovation Business Incubator.
The main partners of the Symposium are Vnesheconombank, the Foundation for Promotion of Small Enterprises in Science and Technology, Center for Entrepreneurship The U.S. Russia, the Nizhny Novgorod Scientific Information Center, and Marchmont Capital Partners.
Renowned Russian and international experts are expected to take part.
The event is supported by Nizhny Novgorod Governor Valery Shantsev and the Nizhny Novgorod region’s Ministry of SME Support and Development.
