Skolkovo + global 500 Startups mentors = Skolkovo Super League acceleration
24 Apr '14
The Skolkovo Foundation has announced the launched of its Skolkovo Super League acceleration program featuring mentors from 500 Startups, a successful global accelerator.
The new program is open for Skolkovo residents developing high-tech projects in IT, telecom and related technologies.
Applications are due by May 1, 2014. Program details and a list of mentors are posted on the dedicated Skolkovo Super League Russian-language section on the Foundation website. One can register there and join other contenders awaiting screening. A panel of experts will be picking applicants based on a number of criteria, including the innovativeness of a product, its global market viability, and a level of a team’s English-speaking skills.
There will be one-on-one and online interaction between teams and mentors; the latter are expected to conduct training sessions and consultations, give recommendations, and follow the teams in progress through the entire acceleration program. The organizers promise ten weeks of painstaking and interactive work aimed at nurturing start-ups, including 560 hours of work with 22 mentors.
The best start-ups will be awarded a fast track in selection for a 500 Startups acceleration program.
According to Ekaterina Gaika, the head of international acceleration at Skolkovo’s IT cluster, the idea of bringing on board some top western mentors to put together a local acceleration program stemmed from the cluster’s recent road show in Silicon Valley, during which Skolkovo residents met local funds, accelerators and tech companies.
