24 Aug '11
Softline Venture Partners, a corporate venture fund run by the Softline group of companies and a Venture Partner of the government-owned Russian Venture Company (RVC), has inked a cooperation agreement with the Skolkovo Foundation, portal UNOVA reports.
In its press release Softline emphasizes that the new partnership “opens for Skolkovo residents new financial opportunities and access to the field of real business.” On the other hand, the VC fund is getting a chance of joining “world-class projects being developed in the innovation city.”
“We are positive that bringing VC funds on board is one of the Foundation’s strategic goals. This means additional professional expertise for projects that will be improved by such cooperation. The investments that top-quality VC funds are going to bring will not only give Skolkovo residents additional funds but also up-to-date managerial experience and great business networking required for full-blown international commercialization of technology ideas,” said Alexei Beltyukov, vice-president and director for planning and development at the Skolkovo Foundation.
“For us it is a strategic agreement. It is giving our fund access to projects, which are already based in Skolkovo or are being invited to join; those are high-class projects designed to seek global markets, to which we now can offer both investments and our international resources—Softline is present in more than 20 countries,” said Elena Alexeyeva, director for investment at Softline.
