Pskov Region will invest $2m in regional ‘agro-towns’ next year, Governor Andrey Turchak said.
Under plans, four such settlements will be built; one site is already under construction since the fall of 2009, Mr. Turchak said.
According to the governor, project participants will then be able to buy the housing under construction for 30% of its actual cost. The ‘agro-towns’ will reportedly have developed social infrastructure. The governor emphasized that the settlements would be built around large agricultural complexes.
The project is Russia’s pilot one and reportedly aimed at providing people with incentives to live and work in rural areas.
