International power company Schneider Electric has completed the first $7.8m stage of construction of a factory in Kazan to produce medium and high voltage power distribution cells, sources in the company report.
The second and third stages are scheduled for completion in 2009.
To implement the project, the company has rented an 8,000-square-meter site in the Q Park logistics center.
In 2008 the factory is expected to produce 1,000 cells, with a further increase to 2,000 in 2009. By 2012 the factory’s production capacity is planned to reach 5,000 cells a year.
