Sverdlovsk region arbitration court has satisfied a claim of Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources Usage (Rosprirodnadzor) and ruled that Ekaterinburg municipal water utilities company Vodokanal is to pay $270m compensation to repair damage, caused to waters in the city, Rosprirodnadzor reports.
Rosprirodnadzor reportedly carried out complex examination of Vodokanal’s activity in September 2007 and found out that the firm dumped industrial and household sewage waters, containing contaminating substances, exceeding by far allowed amount, into the rivers of Iset and Kamyshenka and Verkh-Iset water reservoir.
The funds are to be transferred to Ekaterinburg city budget.
