$2.65bn earmarked for 2012 Beloyarskaya power unit

Officials in Sverdlovsk claimed today a project to build a BN-800 power unit at the Beloyarskaya nuclear power station would see $2.65bn invested by 2012.

The move is being mainly funded by federal budgets, while a lesser amount being invested by the power station's own funds.

Under plans, some $512m of the total is to be invested by the end of 2008. Of this, all but $6m will be put up by federal budgets.
