Regional power supplier MES Ural is to invest some $1.7bn into the Urals power grid beween 2008-2012, the firm's deputy CEO Vladimir Haritonov today claimed.
The move represents the Urals portion of a wider plan by parent firm and state energy giant FSK-UES to invest into the country's grid by 2012.
Of the total $1.7bn, $440m would be spent on the Urals grid in 2008, the firm added, 3.3 times up on what it spent last year.
Spend on the Urals grid represents roughly 1/25 of the total for the country, the firm said.
