Interregional grid company MES Urals spent on repairs $46m in 2009, up 50% on 2008, the company reports.
The funds were reportedly used to replace 35 high-voltage bushes, repair four shunt reactors, 252 circuit breakers, 409 disconnectors, 36 power transformers and 56 compressors at 220-500 kV substations.
The funds were also spent to clean 4,100 hectares aisles and to replace 8,600 insulators and 550 distance blocks and to strengthen 1,150 foundation columns, the firm said.
The works are aimed at secure energy supply to consumers in Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Orenburg, Perm and Kirov regions, as well Republic of Udmurtia.
MES Urals is a part of national grid operator FSK UES.
