Sakhalin’s $683m gas program endorsed

A most recent Sakhalin regional gasification program to be effective through 2020 will require $683m in investment, officials announced earlier today.

Under plans, 147 towns and settlements, 192 boiler houses and the Yuzhno-Sakhalinskaya TETs-1 power station will get natural gas. The Noglikskaya hydroelectric power station will also be reportedly using Sakhalin-2 project supplies.

As a result of this new program, the region is expected to start consuming as much as 2.47 billion cu. m of natural gas a year, according to the officials.
