MES Centerís 2009 investment totals $30m

Interregional grid company MES Center invested a total of $30m financing the program to increase operational safety of substations equipment and power lines in 2009, the company reports.

The funds were reportedly used to replace 181 high-voltage inlets at 64 substations and 5,670 cylindrical post insulators at 157 substations.

The funds were also spent to install 621-kilometer thunder-protection cable, replace 95,000 outdated phosphoric insulators and do other works at power lines.

MES Center is a part of national grid operator FSK-UES.
